Randolph:

Have you tried to use a Registry cleaner?  I don't mean Registry Editoer (which 
can get you in more trouble than it is worth), but a true program designed to 
review and remove Registry entries that should not be there and correct those 
that were changed to invalid values.  I would suggest this before going any 
further in the process.
