Larry:

I think something here is missing.  You must be logged in as an administrative 
user or know the credentials of an administrative user in order to install or 
re-intall software on the Mac OS X platform.

See my note below where you should be asked this question.

Once you click on ONE and only ONE of these packages, and click on the Ok then
the Install button.  At this point you should get a dialog box for user login.  
In this login box, type in the name and password of an administrative user, 
if you are not using an administrative login.  The process should complete 
and you should be able to use X11 after the re-install.

Also, the download available at Apple's download site is for MacOSX 10.3 and 
will 
not work with any version of 10.4.  For 10.4 (Tiger) you must either use your 
original software install disks that came with your Mac or use the Tiger upgrade
disk to install X11.
