Larry: I think something here is missing. You must be logged in as an administrative user or know the credentials of an administrative user in order to install or re-intall software on the Mac OS X platform.

The process should complete and you should be able to use X11 after the re-install. Also, the download available at Apple's download site is for MacOSX 10.3 and will not work with any version of 10.4.
