This is a file association problem. Open OpenOffice.org and use
the F1 key. This will open Help. Click the Index tab and enter
file association
in the Search box. This should fill out to
File Associations for Microsoft Office. Click the Display button at
the bottom of the page. On the right side of the window will appear
directions for changing your MS Word file associations back to MS
Word.
