I'd say this is a perfect reason for throwing McAfee off your computer and 
replace it by one of the perfect alternatives you can find for free. AVG is 
very often recommendet to be just as good. I've been using it for years and it 
never stopped while scanning any file on my harddisk.

If you are satisfied with OpenOffice.org and you don't want to pay for support 
on your virusscanner, then don't blaim OOo for halting the virusscanner. That 
just isn't fair! The problem lies with McAfee if you want a solution, look 
there.
