That's actually not a bad idea. It's not quite what's being asked for, but it's 
useful in a pinch. But if we're already using a master document for a long 
document, it's not going to work as well. Still, I might try it sometime.

I think what Eric is requesting is something like the notepad feature in 
RoughDraft. When I was experimenting with different free word processors before 
I settled on OOo, I really liked that feature in RoughDraft. You open a 
document in the main pane of RoughDraft, and a notepad for that document opens 
in a second pane. It's pretty slick. I requested that in my registration survey 
for OOo, but don't really have any hopes that it will be implemented. I'd be 
thrilled if the Writer developers proved me wrong, though.
