Receiving and editing of .doc and .xls files is never a problem with
OOo. After editing a file you received earlier, you can just send this
file back and (apart from some formatting issues) the receiver will have
no problems opening the file.
If you created a new file and saved it in the OOo native .odt or .ods
format then you can send it from within OOo using File/Send/Email as
Microsoft ... OOo will create a new message in your e-mailclient and
convert your document into an attachment in the corresponding MS-format.
Finally if you can instruct OOo to save your documents in MS-formats
instead of the OOo-formats. You can do this by clicking
Tools>Options>Load/Save>General (I'm using the dutch version, so I'm not
sure if I use the correct english options). Here you can set the formats
in which your files will be saved.
