Has anyone the magic to create Adobe compatible PDF files? These are required by LuLu.com press.
Ideas I've tried are ps2pdf. LuLu rejects and states their printer would too
due to not being Adobe compatible.
OpenOffice.org's Writer export to PDF. Rejection. Fonts are not embedded.
OO Writer to .ps. LuLu is unable to process these to PDF in their "factory".
Uploaded some dummy PDF of 50 pages made in Scribus to LuLu. Works fine. So then I
thought why not OO -> Scribus -> PDF -> LuLu?
But that is not so easy. Scribus cannot "import" ODT (oo writer) but can "Get Text from a
right click on a text box. Can anyone help me here? I try to Get Text but it only gets the first page.
Or I can make one huge text box but then everything is not on page boundaries. The only thing I know
which may work is to save each and every page in my ODT document as a separate page (412 pages).
Scribus cannot import the PDF made by OO Writer "an unacceptable format". I also have maybe 80
images but am resigned I'll have to spend another several days importing them into Scribus or something.
Scribus cannot import the .ps made by writer but, help, could I use another printer driver and somehow
get this to work?
I'm on OO 2 but maybe I can drop back to OO 1.2 and then use a plugin I found
to actually embed the fonts in ODT. I tried to install the plugin into OO2 with
no success.
I'm at a lost. I just want to get from my boot in OO Writer to a PDF conformant
with Adobe and also having the fonts embedded. Any pointers, help, or success
stories are appreciated.
Thanks,

I don't know anything specifically about the requirements of LuLu, but I
routinely send to a printer PDF files that were made using the OOo
Export as PDF feature, and there have never been any problems with him
accepting and using these files. I use fairly standard fonts, Ariel and
Times for the most part, so maybe that's part of the reason that the
printing firm has no problem with these PDF files.
Another option which I use occasionally (with non-OOo applications) is
PDF Creator, a free application for creating PDF files from just about
any application. Someone noted that the file sizes of the PDF files from
PDF Creator are a lot smaller than what OOo gives, and I did verify that
that is the case. I still nearly always use the OOo export feature to
create PDF files from any OOo document because I find it just a bit
easier to use than PDF Creator.
I don't know whether PDF Creator would be any more compatible with LuLu
than the OOo export is, but it might be worth a try.
I'm still puzzled as to what it is about LuLu that doesn't accept
exported PDF files from OOo, since as I said, I have no problem at all
with the printer that I work with.
