OpenOffice can open those but I don't think it can open native Works formats. If you have Openoffice installed you could try: *right* click on a file and choose the Open With option. Select OpenOffice as the program to use and make sure the "Always use this program" box is *not* ticked (checked, if you are American). If OpenOffice is not in the list you can browse to it using the Choose Program option. Do this with an example of each type of file you need - document, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, etc. If OOo can open each example then you are probably in good shape. A minor caveat: if you have complex documents (lots of different styles, fonts, tables etc.) then they might not look the same in OO.
