I have on my desktop OOo_2.0.4_ If opened it just shows installation files. I can not get to a text document to create a document. It just keeps bringing up a window that tells me that the install files must be unpacked and copied to your hard disk....I have already gone completely through this unpack series twice. I have an older verson of Open Office 1.1.4 and it malfunctioned. On one text document it overlayed it with a theme page which I could not get rid of. Then the last text document I created disappeared all together. I used the save as feature as I always do and then the save and it completely disappeared. It is no where to be found. I even ran a google desktop search and it could not find it. I do not remember about the MD5SUM utility, probably not. If I remember correctly, I just clicked the free download button and followed instructions.

Just to be clear : - you have downloaded the 2.0.4 file ? - so you can see it on your desktop on somewhere else on your own computer ? - what is the exact error message you see when you double click on this file ? - did you run the MD5SUM utility as described on the download page ?
