Doesn't that give portability problems crossing the English
Channel? :-)

Anyway, my comment about lack of an inverse for some matrices still 
stands, and there are matrices too, where inversion can be tricky 
because of arithmetical issues.  Unless the OP posts his data, we'll 
never know.
