The problem is with Piers Dunkley's email management -- not
yours.

When the Reply option is used on mail clients an outgoing email
is generated which contains a reference to the original message,
apart from any visible quoting of the original message. The
reference I am thinking of is not normally visible but hidden in
the undisplayed part of the email header.

Many email programs recognise these references and allow incoming
messages (or any others) to be grouped into threads and only the
leading (original) message might be shown in the message list
unless the user expands the thread.

In this particular instance Piers's message
"[users] installing OpenOffice" is hidden in a thread headed by:
"[users] Openoffice suck"

The Reply option should not be used to start a new subject.

On the other hand it is almost as bad to not use the Reply option
when contiuing an already started subject.
