I am at a loss as to what happened. However, I do have a couple
of questions.
First, have you searched your hard drive for the file "New
Database"? Can you find it?
Secondly, have you checked to make sure that OpenOffice.org (OOo)
knows where your JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is located? To do so,
Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > Java. This will takes a little
time before it lists all of your JRE programs.
Try opening "New Database" afterwards. See if it will work now.
You might also want to look at the chapter on Base in the Getting
Started Guide. It is available for download at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors/. While at
that page, browse through the other chapters available there.
