With OpenOffice, you can save your documents in MS-Office format (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). But MS programs do not read OpenOffice documents saved in OO format. So if you download OpenOffice (<http://www.openoffice.org/>) you will be able to create or modify MS documents, but maybe you will not need them any more.

I went to purchase Ms Windows and was told by the clerk there about openoffice.org. I am attending graduate school online. I purchased a new computer but unbeknownst to me, the .doc program and Powerpoint that I have been using has been locked due to these programs being offered to me on a trial basis. I am unable to submit required documents because they have to be in .doc format and powerpoint. Can you please tell me how I would go about downloading the necessary programs to my computer from openoffice?
