Your daughter should save their files in MS Word format (I suppose you
use MS Word). Tell her to use Save As > MS Word or Save As > RTF if she
wants to send you the file. - The other solution would be that you
download OpenOffice yourself (you can have it for free at
<http://www.openoffice.org/>).
