Thanks Terry ! I use FF 2.0 (also in the version included with Ubuntu

Naive as I am, I had presumed that the version of OOo included with
Ubuntu
6.10 was identical with that available on the OOo site. Is this an
illusion
? Is there any way to come 'round this problem ?...

If I then open OOo, I receive an invitation to reconstruct these
windows. I
am using an OOo 2.0 version on Ubuntu 6.10 (which version I am not sure,
presumably a 2.0.4, but it looks like a 2.0 to me). Is this unique to
me,
or is the phenomenon well known in OpenOffice circles ? It may very
well be
a Ubuntu rather than an OpenOffice problem, but in any event it
certainly is
annoying....

The problem does not occur using the official version 2.0.2, either with
Firefox or Thunderbird.
There have been a number of reports of problems involving the Debian and
Ubuntu versions.
Which browser are you using? Do you have any problem when pasting into
a text editor? The problem could be related to your browser settings
folder. I had to restore an older version of mine recently because of
other problems.
BTW, I would decline the invitation to recover open documents until you
have made backup copies of the saved versions. The recovered versions
may have less data.
I Use Ubuntu as well, though I haven't switched to the new version just
yet. I've always used the 'official' version of OOo, setting it up with
alien. The first few Ubuntu Openoffices did not include the thesaurus,
but if you wanted to go to the trouble, you could load the Ubuntu Open
Office Thesaurus separately.
That made me wonder what else they'd been messing around with, so I only
use the official version now. That way, when I have a problem, I can
get help from the users group.
