You missed the point. One of the choices you have when you use
File > Save As
is File type. This is a dropdown list. When you are using Writer
(OOo's word processor), one of the choices in this dropdown list is
Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc). If you select this choice, the file
will be saved in MS Word format. Just attach this file to your email.
But more to the point, you can send email directly from OOo.
File > Send > Email as Microsoft Word. This opens you default browser
with your document attached in MS Word format. Enter the email
address, and send.
