Yes, there is a way to do that. You just save the documents in MS Word
format, using the File menu > Save As, and selecting the right line
among the various possibilities on the "Type" line. Normally I think
your correspondents should have MS Word 97 etc. You could also save
them in RTF format. If you want to send the documents in OpenOffice
format, there is no other way than convincing your correspondents to
download OpenOffice themselves...
