James,

I did read a lot about the Mac installation because I had to learn about X11 
etc.   That was before I downloaded.   Perhaps I should look at it again.   I 
spent considerable time online looking for answers.

It does amaze me that the download just disappears.   I don't shut down about 
night, just put the Mac to sleep.
