Dan,
Thanks for the great info, did not expect a reply, MS never does.

Hello,
I sent an .opd file to a person with MS Powerpoint on Windows

I have opened excel files with Open Office, does Microsoft products
not recognize Open Office files?

No, MS Office does not recognize OpenOffice.org file. Until they
do, you will have to be careful how you save the files you send. By
using File > Send, you can send the file in MS Office formats (.doc
for documents, .xls for spreadsheets, and .pps for PowerPoint
presentations). You can also save OOo files in MS Office format if
you desire.
