If these files are not private, can you send their address ?

While looking for genealogical data in the Netherlands I came across several in
ODP format which I duly downloaded and could not open. So I downloaded
OpenOffice 2.1 with the sole hope of being able to view and / or extract the
data to Excel or Word. Not a chance!

Instead, when I open one of these ODP files I get literally thousands of pages
filled with blank space, many hash signs and non-printable characters. All I
want to do is open the file, convert it to a spreadsheet, and use it as simple
sortable database. Some help would be appreciated as I am frustrated beyond
belief

I have Windows XP Prof SP2 with Microsoft Office XP (2002) SP3 - I do not want
to go to Office 2007 to be able to (hopefully) convert ODP files\

Thanks
Frustrated ODP user?
