Did you try saving in MS Office format, instead of the default
OpenDocument format? MS Office is defficient, in that it can't open ISO
standard file formats.
However, this is not the problem that the original poster reported.
The problem stated that he is using OOo but can't open files created
with Office 2007.
Not that Office 2007 can't open files created by OOo.
(I don't have Office 2007 so I can't confirm the problem, but this is
what the OP reported.)
