With MS Office 2007's .docx format you are up the creak
for using OOo but If you company uses Office 2007
Is there a reason that you must use the new .docx format
INSTEAD of the .doc format?
I downloaded the Trial version and converted many of the
2007 templetes to the older .doc/ppt (etc) formats.
The documents looked and worked fine in the .doc format.
I do not like the setup of Office 2007
I have Office 2003 along woth OOo 2.1
I think that MS is mad that they did not get their XML
open document standard as the International standard
thet OOo uses. Now they are appying for there "open" standard
as a second open document standard.

Did you try saving in MS Office format, instead of the default
OpenDocument format? MS Office is defficient, in that it can't open ISO
standard file formats.
However, this is not the problem that the original poster reported.
The problem stated that he is using OOo but can't open files created with
Office 2007.
Not that Office 2007 can't open files created by OOo.
(I don't have Office 2007 so I can't confirm the problem, but this is what
the OP reported.)
