Cmd+C will never work under X11 in Mac. You can use ctrl+c to the
same effect (and the ctrl button is only one button away from Cmd
after all).
Failing that try NeoOffice from www.neooffice.org which some people
have claimed run slowly, though it has always been fine for me. This
will use the standard mac shortcuts.

the "working" command c is really the copy fuction from Apple's
launcher interface for X11
neooffice will give you a much more "mac" interface including
standard copy & paste
