I can not get X11 to install correctly even after removing receipts,
emptying trash and then reinstalling it...it never starts again and I
can not change the prefrences as directed thus i can not install open
office. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Did you consult the installation how-to at
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/: <http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/>
• There is a different version of X11 for Panther (Mac OSX 10.3.x) and for
Tiger (Mac OSX 10.4.x). The Panther version can be downloaded from the Apple
site, the Tiger version sits on your Max OSX Installation disks (use
Spotlight to locate the X11User.pkg).
• There is a different version of OpenOffice.org for the PowerPC Mac and for
the Intel Mac. Be sure to download the right version.

Good luck!
