As soon as the programers are able to work through the new
format. In the meanwhile, files can still be read and written by both
Office 2007 and OOo in the *.doc format (for text documents).
Even though Office 2007 uses XML, their specification for their
format runs 6000 pages. In comparison, OOo's specification is a mere
761 pages which includes about 10 pages for the table of content.
