And, as someone else suggested earlier, you could automate it with a
macro.

If Kevin wants this as part of the style and he can't wait, he could
pay enormous bux to Adobe and purchase their InDesign product. InDesign
has had nested styles for several years, and they work very well. 

Nested styles might be a nice feature to add to OOo, but there are tons
of things we desperately need first. Like being able to use OpenType
fonts on Linux.
