That's a question to ask on the Issue tracker I think. What I've noticed is that until OOo finds an Unicode character, it uses : - From 0 to 127 the ASCII table, see here : http://ascii-table.com/ - From From 128 to 255 the ASCII Extended Characters, see here : http://www.kerryr.net/pioneers/ascii4.htm - From 256 to 383 the IBM PC Extended ASCII table, see here : http://jimprice.com/jim-asc.htm - From 384 to 511 the ASCII Extended Characters, see here : http://www.kerryr.net/pioneers/ascii4.htm - From 512 : again IBM PC Extended ASCII table then ASCII Extended Characters table, ... This should explain your character issue : 0103 in HEX is equivalent to 259 in decimal - 256 = 3 = heart for IBM PC Extended ASCII table.
