This is a published *feature* of Google's mail service, which you
choose to use (and nothing to do with this or any list). See Google
Mail's help text:
<quote>
Messages you send to yourself only appear in your inbox when you are
the sole recipient of the message. In order to prevent your inbox
from becoming cluttered, the following types of messages appear in
'Sent Mail,' but not in your inbox:
* Messages that you 'Cc:' or 'Bcc:' to yourself
* Messages sent to a mailing list you've subscribed to
* Messages you send to an email account that forwards to your Gmail
account
</quote>
I suspect that this is unwise, but that's another issue ...
Just to confuse the issue further...
Under another name and using a Gmail account, I joined this list
successfully.
I then sent a message to the list using Thunderbird, went to gmail.com
and send another message,
Then I checked using this account and the gmane news service.
Only the email sent from the gmail.com site appears.
Gmail is configured to keep the emails that are forwarded to the
account on Tbird in the Gmail INBOX so the one sent from Gmail.com is
in the Gmail.com INBOX and in the Thunderbird INBOX.
Mesages sent from Thunderbird do not appear in either INBOX or in the
newsgroup.
THIS IS THE ONLY MAILING LIST I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH. With all my
other mailing lists, Tbird works as one might expect!!
Effing frustrating, this!!
I'm quite puzzled. Thunderbird (currently 1.5.0.10) is the only email
program I use, and it has been that way for several years. I've never
had trouble receiving messages from this list. In fact, I use
Thunderbird to automatically sort these messages into their own folder.
The only thing I can think of is if you set up a filter in Thunderbird
that is somehow erasing some of your messages.
