I assume that all you are addressing (intentional pun:-)) here is the label
content: there seems little point in changing any dimensional parameters
of what
is, for labelling purposes, a fixed size box. In that case, changing a
single style - the table content - will achieve a similar result.
You are right: it won't be needed often. It works specially nice when
there is some non-variable content on a label.
I don't understand the "stability" problems, perhaps because I've never
seen any in my table-based templates.
Sorry, I didn't want to suggest that a table-based solution does have
stability problems.
I have seen situations, where many frames in a document would leed to
problems. That is the reason why I made the remark.
