I thought I'd like the new way that the OOo web sight chooses where to
download the installation files for you -- one link to click instead of
choosing semi-blindly from ten or fifteen.
I hadn't counted on a certain "co-operation" between OOo's web sight and
my firewall software -- ZoneAlarm -- from interfering with it!
I chose the Windows download, clicked the "continue to download" link on
the next screen, and instead of seeing a download got a blank screen
announcing that, "the object has been blocked." I changed ZoneAlarm so
that it wouldn't block the download sight. It didn't help, because the
next time I pushed the "continue to download" button, the web sight had
chosen a different download sight!
After thinking about this for a second, I used the following kludge;
each time the "blocked object" appeared in my web browser (Firefox
2.0.0.3) I went back a page and clicked the "continue to download" link
again. Eventually OOo cycled back to the sight I'd unblocked. Now I have
my download.
You might say, each time you open a door in your firewall, OOo tries to
open a different one!
