Could someone confirm if the Spanish dictionary for Cuba works with OOo 2.2 ? I can install it through the wizard but it's not recognized by OOo, the dictionary.lst file is fine, the entry for es CU is there but no way to make it appear in OOo. [...]

After having installed es_CU with the wizard I had a new entry in
...Options...Available Language Modules: 'Unknown'.
AFAIR it wasn't before - but there are no possibilities to activate
anything.

Spanish (Cuba) isn't anywhere in UI (en, es, fr, de), equal before or
after installation of the language module. It only appears with
DictOOo ...

The readme file in es_CU isn't different to usual installation with
the wizard (additional there's an instruction for manual installation,
but AFAIR there's also no difference to other language modules).

I tried to integrate the entries of the new (after installation)
created Linguistic.xcu  from ...share\registry\data (1) into
Linguistic.xcu of user\registry\data (2) like e.g.:

(1)
  <node oor:name="LastFoundSpellCheckers">
   <prop oor:name="es-CU" oor:op="replace" oor:type="xs:string">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
  </node>
  <node oor:name="SpellCheckerList">
   <prop oor:name="es-CU" oor:op="replace" oor:type="xs:string">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
  </node>

(2)
  <node oor:name="SpellCheckerList">
   <prop oor:name="de-DE" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="el-GR" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="en-GB" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="en-US" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="es-CU" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value>org.openoffice.lingu.MySpellSpellChecker</value>
   </prop>

and

  <node oor:name="LastFoundSpellCheckers">
   <prop oor:name="de-DE" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value/>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="el-GR" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value/>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="en-GB" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value/>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="en-US" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value/>
   </prop>
   <prop oor:name="es-CU" oor:op="replace" oor:type="oor:string-list">
    <value/>
   </prop>

But there was no change: es_CU wasn't available.
After restarting OOo the es_CU entry in 'LastFoundSpellCheckers' was
removed;
in 'SpellCheckerList' it remained - but without any effect ...

... At moment: no further ideas [...]
P.S.
Machination of CIA?  ;-)

This aspect had given me some new inspiration - ;-)
a workaround I tried with success ->
'The Guerrilla Way (a long way off perfection)'.

Changing all "es_CU" (Cuba) entries to e.g. a not installed Spanish
language module as "es_DO" (Dom. Rep.).

"es_DO" (Spanish - Dom. Rep.) is a language module, possibly to
activate and to find in 'Options ...' or styles *before* having it
installed - "es_CU" (Spanish - Cuba) is *not* (it's missing everywhere
in user interface).

Instead of (see above)
<prop oor:name="es-CU" oor:op="replace" oor:type="xs:string">
->
<prop oor:name="es-DO" oor:op="replace" oor:type="xs:string">

And in ...share\dict\ooo too, e.g. instead of
'es_CU.aff' -> 'es_DO.aff' etc. ...

Also in 'dictionary.lst', instead of
'DICT es CU es_CU' -> 'DICT es DO es_DO' etc ...

At the end of all renaming you've the Cuba language module in the
clothing of Dom. Rep. (and it's harder to find for CIA ;-)) ...

You can test the difference to es_ES with e.g. 'abarrancá' ...

adiós -
Manfred
