I use Thunderbird, not only as an email/news client, but also integrated with
OpenOffice. Thunderbird's addressbook works great with OpenOffie! I also use
Sunbird as a standalone calandar, though you can get a calandar extension for
Thundirbird that works within Thunderbird (if you need a calandar like
Microsoft.)

There is no 100%, iron clad, entirely secure email client. However, compared
to Microsoft's offerings, from all what I've read, Thunderbird is considerably
better than Microsoft. I cannot compare Thunderbird to Seamonkey. I've never
used Seamonkey. I have used Mozilla's Suite. However it was too restricting
compared to Firefox and Thunderbird.

I know that this is perhaps not the forum to ask, but you all have been so
helpful suggesting Outlook replacements to other new users (myself being
one); so I will pose the question here. If there is a better place to ask,
please let me know?

I have heard of issues with security/spam/phishing and Thunderbird in the
past on other groups to which I belong.

Before I migrate from MS Outlook, I am considering both Seamonkey and
Thunderbird. I have to admit, I like the way Thunderbird functions, while
Seamonkey reminded me of an older version of Netscape I used years ago, but
is (according to their online literature) a "complete internet suite".

If anyone has a comment or two on their use of Thunderbird or Seamonkey or
why they prefer one to the other, I would appreciate hearing them. You can
contact me offlist if you prefer.
Many Thanks
