I trusted Calc to read and write to Excel format thinking it was mature

In http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77124 you described
that the corruption happened while your machine was hibernated under
Windows Vista with Calc having opened the file. I don't see why using
the Excel format with Calc should be the culprit, the error seems to be
related to the combination of an open (unsaved?) file on a server / OOo
/ Vista / hybernation instead.

Well, that is what I suspect that happened. I usually save files or
close OpenOffice before putting the computer to sleep or hibernate. I
can't make sure that was how they got corrupted. I just opened one of
my files, updated it, then opened another, and Calc wasn't able to open
it. And that was how I discovered another pair of files were corrupted too.
