Do you have jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin installed. It is available from 
www.sun.com. The download is proably jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.tz or 
something similar to it. There is also likely a later version. This 
is require for OOo to play sounds even in slide trasitions on Linux.
