Un friggin believable! Userguide takes from page 490 to 496 on how to
install JMF and get sound working on linux. Thank for the info... I will
install it and test. But that brings up a couple of simple questions:

1. Why isn't something like this already embedded in OOo?
2. What are others supposed to do once I've created my presentation?
There seems to be no method to embed the sound in the presentation, and
even if it were, it appears that they would have to go through the JMF
(I can think of other meanings for those initials...) nonsense as well
in order to get the presentation to play on their system as well.

I wonder if this would call under
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=24969
or if a new/other bug is appropriate.

Most linux systems already have alternate sound players installed:
mplayer, totem, realplayer, gstream, etc., etc., etc. And now OOo
requires JMF simply to play a simple WAV file in an Impress presentation?
Sorry, not ranting at you... I just find it incredulous that this
problem still exists in OOo.
