I purchased openoffice purely to obtain 'Publisher,' as your product was
advertised on the internet. I already HAVE Star Office installed on my Medion
PC. I immediately looked at the different headings and could not see anything
which looked similar to a Publisher, so I did not accept the licences, and
contacted the author of the product (as it advices you to in the purchase
download) asking where Publisher is and if it isn't there can I have a refund.
This was sent on the 20/07/2007 (the day of purchase). I had a reply on the
25/07/2007 Telling me how to download the software, I assumed that Publisher was,
indeed, in the pack, and agreed to the licences, only to find that I have
purchased virtually an identical system to what I already have. I know feel
that you have mislead me in your initial advert, I would not have made the
purchase if it didn't state that it contained Published. It was only the Publisher
that I required.
Yours K. Carr (Mrs)
1. OpenOffice can be obtained for no cost through the web site
OpenOffice.org, so there was no need to spend any money to obtain it.
(Although selling it is perfectly legal.)
2. "Publisher" is a program of Microsoft and would therefore not be
available as free software.
3. OpenOffice.org does not have a program that will open Publisher files
(per my understanding, no program other than Publisher can open
Publisher files). Depending on your needs, OpenOffice.org Write or Draw
may be able to accomplish what you're after. Scribus is another free
program (not connected to OpenOffice) which many people recommend,
although I have no experience with it.
