I know this is going to be a silly question, but did you check your page setup -- and does it match the paper you are using -- as you can print the PS/PDF I would guess that OSX has correct page setup for your printer and X11 does not -- what driver are you using? -- I have a psc 2510 and thing I finshed up using a Deskjet 842 driver to make it work from Open Office

Thanks

I neglected to mention another alternative: paper size. Since your top margin is missing, try adding an inch or 2.2 cm to your paper length in a custom setting, which most printer properties setups can accommodate. Also, you may try using inches or points instead (72/inch). It may simply be that the driver has the wrong conversion factor. Please let us know what you discover.

  Thank you for your comments.

I have checked the units as you suggest and they are correctly set in
cm units.

The only way I have found to produce a document with the text in the
correct place is to print to file then print the postscript file that
is produced by this action.

I agree about the printer driver. Additionally, what
units have you chosen in TOOLS > OPTIONS? If you've
chosen metric units, make sure that your margins are
specified in terms of cms not mms, i.e. 2.2 cms equals
about an inch, whereas 2.2 mms would be barely
noticeable.

When I print documents produced on 'Writer' and

the top of the
sheet of paper. What am I missing here?

That sounds like a problem with your printer driver
settings rather than
something that's directly related to OpenOffice
itself.
