It is called Fear Uncertainty Doubt (FUD) and it comes with 
conditioning. People are habitual; most people also do not think 
for themselves, they just follow what they are told if it fits 
within their understanding and belief. Otherwise they have to be 
conditioned through systematic FUD. Or if we want them to learn 
through good information then we also have to systematically 
condition them in the same manner with good information rather then 
the FUD.

All you have to do to see what I am talking about is look back 
through history and you will see slow systematic changes in the 
things people accept now that they did not several years or decades 
ago.
