Thank you Dave for your answer.

I thought of this. However I do have the very same problem with Debian
Linux (kernel 2.6.21.3) and Windows-XP, Java 1.6.0_01 and Java 1.6.0_02.
And I can not resolve that problem for some month now with verious
updates to the operating systems. It should be very easy, but I need
some hints to find it. Do you know of a check that tells something?
