This is news?

Actually, I really fail to see the reason for all of the outrage and fur flying
around this issue.

I don't use and have no use for MS software.

Nobody that I "do stuff for" uses MS software. (There is a reason for this: I
will not assist those who refuse to be helped.)

I know little about what MS does, and I care substantially less than that.

They can do whatever they wish to do in their corner, and I will continue to do
what I wish to do in mine. OpenOffice, Linux, Firefox, Apache, sendmail...
Most of that has been around for several years, some of it is getting
downright ancient in computer-years, and none of it is going to disappear any
time soon. To the contrary, over the past few years the whole Free Software
scene has been growing at an increasing pace and as its profile rises, so does
its market acceptance. As my grandmother used to say, "Nothing succeeds like
success."

That is the current reality. Accordingly, MS (and other companies involved in
computer software and services) can lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Again, it doesn't matter much to me what they do. Live and let live.

Their actions are irrelevant, in my humble opinion.
