Anyone notice that the latest 2.3rc1(M3) development build using the deb files (http://download.openoffice.org/680/?intcmp=1233) can no longer run side-by-side with 2.2.1?
The previous builds left 2.2.1 alone so that you could run them side-by-side to do comparisons. However this development build *replaces* 2.2.1. so you can only run one or the other, but not both. For example, when installing 2.3rc1: > (Reading database ... 181966 files and directories currently installed.) > Preparing to replace openoffice.org-base 2.2.1-9161 (using > openoffice.org-base_2.3.0-3_i386.deb) ... > Unpacking replacement openoffice.org-base ... And when reinstalling 2.2.1: > dpkg - warning: downgrading openoffice.org-base from 2.3.0-3 to 2.2.1-9161. > (Reading database ... 182218 files and directories currently installed.) > Preparing to replace openoffice.org-base 2.3.0-3 (using > openoffice.org-base_2.2.1-9161_i386.deb) ... > Unpacking replacement openoffice.org-base ... Also 2.3 no longer creates a separate .openoffice.org2dev directory, but instead uses the old openoffice.org2 directory. I suppose that all of this is documented somewhere in the release notes: http://development.openoffice.org/releases/2.3.0rc1.html Unfortunately, the maintainers of that web page still seem to think that everyone has a wide screen hdtv to view what it written there, and have ignored the bug report to fix it that was filed in June: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77434 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
