Some (many) people here do, as unsubscribed users post questions and follow-ups
to this mailing list. (See above.)

Then send personal emails to just those people who are unsubscribe. Since you use what you deem to be a "good" email program you should be able to filter on the Delivered To: Moderator header.
That is why I use Gmane to avoid all emails to the list and so I can download the body of only those messages I want to read.

You may wish to consider setting up a "dummy" email account to collect unwanted
replies. Or perhaps even set up killfiles. Believe me, I'm far from the only
one who posts replies/cc original poster on mailing lists and newsgroup feeds.
It's generally considered to be a good, desirable, correct and proper thing to
do.

It is a good idea when the poster is not subscribed to the list. Otherwise is is not.

Sending an additional email reply to the poster rather than just to the newsgroup is definitely bad netiquette.

You're absolutely wrong. I don't see how I can make this more clear. (And
frankly explaining this to you over and over is now getting a bit tiresome. I
have a great deal of patience with new users and the like, or at least I try
to, but there comes a point....)

On most mailing lists and newsgroups I belong to it is definitely bad netiquette to send copies of messages to the original poster. Why would I want or need two copies of a message filling up my inbox.

BTW, I am not a new user and I get real tired of sanctimonious and superior attitudes of some "experts".

If you can't follow proper netiquette please refrain from posting.

If you really feel that strongly about it, I do recommend that you look into
the use of killfiles or even just simple inbox filtering.

Don't you recognize a dig when you see one? I was responding to your comment "If you're not sufficiently interested in any particular subject matter to be interested in reading the replies to your remarks, refraining from posting into that thread is the simplest way to avoid receiving feedback."

REPLY TO LIST ONLY

Guess what! I deleted your address from the CC field on this email. Just
this once, and just for you. It's not the normal or proper way to provide a
response to a post, though, so you will likely get further replies in your
inbox in the future.

Replying to the list only IS the proper way to reply
