I think I will have to try the performance pack version.
Can you export to PowerPoint with sound though?
I'm trying it now. I have to dual-boot the other machine into XP. I'll
post back when tested.

Yep, it works :-) Tested in MS PowerPoint 2002 on Windows XPPro.
However, of course I have it use .wav file for each slide; I don't think
that you can play a .wav through the entire presentation (continuous
sound slide-to-slide) yet.
BTW: the saved .odp file is 171KB & it plays just fine; the exported
.ppt file w/sound embedded is 1,545KB and the original .ppt 1,365KB.
Hope you can get it working on your distro... like I said, I've been
trying to figure this out for about a year now & just happier than %^%#
that your post encouraged me to give it one more try :-)

Funny,
I tried on two different machines, two different versions of Fedora, to
export and play sound files but neither did it. I can play sounds (wav
files) with no problems on the machines.
Are you exporting in Linux or Windows?
My *.odp file is 13K and the ppt is 80K.
I tried playing the ppt file on two different Windows computers.
Did you make any settings change to embed the sound? I looked to see if
there is a setting and now I wonder as the wav files alone are over a
couple of megs in size. I may have missed a setting someplace. I have
looked a couple of times and I cannot see any setting for this.
I just tried to copy just the odp file and there was no sound so it
looks like a settings issue on my systems. What dumb luck.
With your help I did get the sound working now I have to get the exports
to work for all users automatically on reboot. I tried it in the
.bashrc and .bash_profile with partial success.
