Deleting OpenOffice will not delete your documents. However, there is no reason why you can't have both MS Office and OpenOffice on the same computer. As for that Word 2007, you have to be very careful that you don't lose your documents. As I understand it, that time limited version can only save in the new DOCX file format. This means that any document you save using it will be unavailable to you after that limited time expires, unless you buy a fully licensed version.
