I would love to get into Open Office. it sort of loads but not
completely. it seems that there are macros using basic which are not
converted. Is this normal. if i sent the spreadsheet could someone
convert it please.
OOis fantastic. I have managed to get all my other sppreadsheets
converted easily.

Hi Ross
VBA macros will not run in OOo.
Have a look at your "Tools-Options-Load/Save VBA Properties" settings.
I haven't run into this problem, but I share very few excel files.
I wonder what would happen if you turned off the "Load Basic code to
edit"?
Someone else may have better ideas.
If the file is not confidential you could send it to me off list and I
will have a try at converting to ODF.

Will this help? http://www.linux.com/articles/58348
I haven't even downloaded it let alone tried it so I can't comment but it
sounds promising.
Well spotted Harold, but Ross seems to be running some flavour of
Windows. I'm using gentoo linux and I guess I could have a go at
installing the patch, but really have no need for a VBA macro facility
myself. Probably wouldn't actually help, as it appears that the VBA
code remains, and still wouldn't run on the Windows version. The Novell
patch appears to allow the VBA code to be interpreted by the Starbasic
interpreter. I don't _think_ it makes the .ods file able to run on
standard OOo. I see there is a Novell version of 2.1 available for Windows.
Does anyone know if the Google version of StarOffice has VBA support? I
see a reference to the Sun VBA support on the article Harold pointed to.
This could also be a resource for people with lots of VBA to deal with
on Windows.
