I liked this idea a lot, as an opportunity to spread the word

makes that plug-in available for Windows computers. That would
be, *Microsoft* Windows computers. Somehow that strikes me as
quite ironic. Too bad. At least 60% of my email recipients these
days are on Mac or Linux, and most of those are clients so it
would not be appropriate to insist they install OOo or Neo. Oh
well.

Your Linux customers already have OpenOffice.org so you don't have a
problem there.
Your MAC customers might like to know you have a solution that could
help them. No one wants to spend money if they don't have too. You
could figure out a way to tell them about it so they see it as a
helpful service for their gain. They aren't all going to do
anything about it (some will) but that does not mean you don't try.
As i read kazar's contribution, it seems to me he's saying that
without the plugin they won't be able to read all documents with OOo
or Neo. Thus [at least for the Mac users], there will a temptation
to keep using Word.
