I'm afraid, that's not it. I made sure that my "Picture placeholders" was off and indeed it is. The Word interface doesn't make it seem like it's a placeholder either. It's just an image that contains the original picture in a small rectangle in the top left hand corner and the rest is white/transparency. I'm not sure which app is at fault in this case. Is there a way to file such bug reports for investigation by the OO.o dev team?
