Unfortunately from what you've been told, OpenOffice is not an email
program, it is an office suite comparable to Microsoft Office.
I believe that JoAnne may have meant she needs to be able to open
Microsoft Office documents that are *sent to her via email*.
JoAnne, if we are confusing you, sorry!! Take a breath and help us help
you by clicking Reply to one of the responses you have received, and
give us a more step-by-step description of your dilemma. It sounds like
it is Microsoft Office asking you for a number (I believe they do call
it a product key). It's definitely not OpenOffice, which has no
requirement that you enter any code in order to use it.
so take a breath, no need to stumble around on your own attempting to
get a grip on all of this, write back and folks can guide you to a happy
resolution in a methodical fashion. Tell us what you have done so far,
and chances are folks here can help.
