Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > Online Update. On the right side,
you probably have the "Check for updates automatically" checked. Uncheck
it, and click OK. That should solve your problem. Each happens because
each time you start OOo with this box checked, the program tries to access
the Internet to see if there is an update.
