    It appears that you are subtracting times from two different days.
(17:25:13 is afternoon and 07:30:00 is in the morning.) If this is the
case you need to format the cells you are using to include both the day of
and time, i.e., 11/15/2007 17:25:13     and   11/16/2007 07:30:00. The
cell containing the total time between two entries has to have its own
special formating.
    Right click the cell that is to contain the total time. Select Format
cells from the context menu. Select Time as the Category. Select 13:37:46
as the Format. The Format Code window will show HH:MM:SS. Click inside
this window. Place brackets around the HH so that the code becomes
[HH]:MM:SS. Click the green arrown at the right end of the Format Code
window.
    What this special formating does it to permit Calc to show hours larger
than 24.  For example,
A1 = 11/15/2007 17:25:13
A2 = 11/17/2007 07:30:00
A3 = 38:04:47  or 1 day 14 hours 4 minutes 47 seconds.
